Sunday - God Starts the Church - Children's Sunday School Lesson - Acts 2:1-12, 22-24, 36-41 - 5/6/18

God sent the wind and the fire and gave the disciples the ability to speak in different languages. He did this so all the people would know that God had decided it was time to start the church.

Peter wanted everyone to know that the man they knew as Jesus was the Son of God. People who belong to God's church believe that Jesus is God's Son.

What makes the church special? What special thing about Jesus do people in the church believe?

The Holy Spirit comes at Pentecost. Peter speaks to the crowd (Peter's Sermon).

As one child reads the Bible, let other children act out the Scriptures/Words from the Bible:

The Wind Blew.

Fire fell.

The crowd listened.

Peter spoke.
"You crucified Jesus."

The crowd cried out.
"What do we do?"

The disciples preached.
"Come to Jesus."

3000 came.

The Church began.

Therefore, let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. _ _ _ Acts 2:36

The apostles, filled with the Holy Ghost, and speaking divers languages languages, are admired by some, and derived by others.

Friday - Practice Mutal Discipline - Matthew 18:15-20 - 2/24/17

These are Jesus' guidelines for dealing with those who sin against us. Jesus' words are not a license for a frontal attack on every person who hurts or slights us. They are designed to reconcile those who disagree so that all Christians can live in harmony.

By contrast, we should go to the person first, as difficult as that may be. Then we should forgive that person as often as he or she needs it.

Ideally, the church's decisions should be God-guided & based on discernment of his Word. Handling problems God's way will have an impact now & for eternity.

Jesus looks ahead to a new day when he will be present with his followers not in body, but through his Holy Spirit. Two or more believers, filled with the Holy Ghost, will pray according to God's will, not their own; & thus their requests will be granted.

2 of 2 ... Surprised & Expectant ... 12/1/13 Sunday School Lesson

Luke 1:26-30 . Matthew 1 . highly favored - blessed are thou among women . Luke 1:26 (Nazareth) . Immanuel . Matthew 1:20,21,25 . Sunday School Lesson

Before going on to next week's lesson, I thought that I needed to go back and look over these issues, after being in Sunday School.

I make notes in my Sunday School Book as I read/study and then also have notes on paper attached to my Sunday School Book for Church, so I won't forget. But I am not the Sunday School Teacher, I will assist.

favour, favoured ... kindness (Luke 1:30)

highly favored ("endued with grace") Luke 1:28. Favour may be deserved or granted.

Nazareth ... From the summit above the village one looks south across the extensive plain of Esdra-elon, west to Mount Carmel on the Mediterranean coast, east to nearby Mount Tabor, & north to snow-capped Mount Hermon.

Immanuel ... significance of the child's birth (JESUS), not HIS name.

Luke, the beloved physician, companion of the apostle Paul.

Gospel according to Luke ... Luke was probably a Syrian of Antioch, & may have been converted by the apostle Paul.

Luke wrote for the whole world, whether Jew or Gentile, but especially for Greeks, as Matthew for Jews.

Begins with the promise of the forerunner & ends with the ascending Saviour's blessing & HIS disciples continual joy.

Mathew 1:18,20,21,25

Mary was pregnant with child by the Holy Ghost - Divine Intervention. She knew no man - no man had touched her.

the angel of the Lord appeared unto Joseph in a dream assuring him that Mary's conception was of the Holy Ghost - Divine.
